I Used to Cut Out My Characters and Carry Them Everywhere

Character Fun
I used to draw characters and then cut them out with scissors. I would spread them across the floor and organize them into groups. I loved sorting them by colors, shapes, personalities, and teams. I could spend hours arranging them and moving them around.
Here's a photo of me when I was young cutting out my characters. I would draw hundreds a day.
Sometimes I would carry the characters with me for two or three weeks. They stayed in my hands, my pockets, my backpack, or beside me wherever I sat. They made me feel calm and happy, like I always had a story with me.
After a few weeks, I would throw them away and start again. It wasn’t sad — it was just part of my process. I enjoyed creating new characters more than keeping the old ones.
I Loved Sketch Pads
Everyone in my family knew I loved sketch pads. I asked for them as gifts all the time. Drawing and cutting out characters was one of my favorite things to do. I loved filling the pages and watching new characters appear.
I Still Draw Today
I still draw characters today, just not as much as before. I create digital art now, and I enjoy seeing my characters on screens instead of paper. The creative part feels the same — the imagination never really stopped — but my process has grown and changed as I’ve gotten older.
Blank paper and sketch pads still make me smile. They remind me of all the characters I created and carried with me everywhere.
